Independence Day 2023: India Working On 6G Launch, 'Task Force' Created, Says PM Modi

During today's address on the 77th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended the rapid implementation of 5G technology across the nation, highlighting that India is now preparing for 6G and has established a task force for this purpose. He emphasized that internet connectivity has now reached every village and the country is gearing up for advancements like quantum computers.

"I take pride in announcing that India has been the quickest in rolling out 5G technology. With presence in over 700 districts, our focus is now on transitioning to 6G, for which a dedicated task force has been constituted," Prime Minister Modi declared from the historic Red Fort.

He underscored the global influence of technology and noted that even developed nations are eager to learn from the achievements of Digital India.

The Prime Minister revealed the government's intent to introduce a new initiative aimed at integrating technology into the agriculture sector. As part of this initiative, numerous self-help groups consisting of women will receive training and tools related to drone technology.

"I recognize the potential of science and technology among rural women. Hence, we're contemplating a novel scheme to infuse technology into agriculture," he stated. 

"To bolster agriculture, we plan to train women self-help groups in piloting and repairing drones. Thousands of such groups will be equipped with drones and trained. We are commencing drone operations with 15,000 women self-help groups," Prime Minister Modi elaborated.

He acknowledged the considerable capabilities of the country's youth and expressed the government's dedication to creating policies that provide ample opportunities for them.

"Presently, India's youth have propelled our nation into the top three global start-up ecosystems. The world stands in awe of the power and potential of India's youth," Prime Minister Modi affirmed.

He highlighted the government's utilization of technology to combat corruption and underscored that internet access now spans every corner of the nation. Additionally, he informed the audience that India is on the verge of quantum computing advancements, while also mentioning the establishment of farmer producer organizations and plans to delve into semiconductor manufacturing.

Prime Minister Modi concluded by noting that pre-2014, internet data was exorbitantly priced, and today, data costs have substantially decreased, resulting in financial savings for every family.
