Qatar's seaport operator has entered into a sale and purchase agreement to acquire a controlling stake in Europe's largest port from the Kramer Group.

In an announcement shared via X, formerly known as Twitter, the Qatari company stated, "QTerminals Group has signed an SPA to acquire a majority equity stake in the Kramer Group, the port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands." The agreement was formalized between Mr. Neville Bissett, QTerminals' CEO, and Mr. Andre Karmer, CEO of the Kramer Group. While the exact financial details were not disclosed, it has been confirmed that QTerminals is acquiring a majority equity stake.

The acquisition of the Kramer Group holds strategic significance for QTerminals, representing a notable stride in their expansion journey. The Port of Rotterdam, being the largest port in Europe, offers immense potential.

The Kramer Group is a comprehensive provider of container handling and storage, terminal operations, container development, and logistics services, based within the Port of Rotterdam. It stands as the sole independent terminal in the Maasvlakte region and is among the limited multi-user depot terminals within the port.

QTerminals, established as Qatar's terminal operating company through a joint venture involving Mwani (with a 51% shareholding) and Milaha (with a 49% shareholding), plays a pivotal role in the first phase of Hamad Port by offering container, general cargo, RORO, livestock, and offshore supply services. The Hamad Port serves as Qatar's principal gateway for its seaport requirements, with QTerminals being instrumental in facilitating the country's imports, exports, maritime trade, and local and regional economic growth.
